Sorry to be so late in getting back to ya. I haven't been on MT for a while....
I have started on some xenogears fanart, I just been looking for an excuse to do so. It's on the pencil stage at the moment seeing as I am struggling with the perspective .... @!%$#. But it'll be coming.... eventually....
It's a pic of Fei and emarelda. I hope it will be decent.

i am adding you to my friend list, so you'll know when it's on the way....

Hi!!!!!
Thanks for nice comment on my wall :). I'm glad that you like it. I have your e-mail... sorry that I don't respond but I can't get to net.... I will read it as soon as I can :). any way how are you?
Take care and see ya around
Big hugs

hey,
yeah, I love Xenogears very much...
Whenever I read books or play rpg’s I always try to predict the plot. I sorta make up a worst case scenario in my head, in terms of what is the coolest but least likely direction the plot could take. Mostly i am disapointed, the stories in my head are always more interesting, but that was one of the very few rpg’s to actually follow the plot twists I concocted in my mind and go beyond them... I like people who make up complicated stories.

As to the fanart.... I was very inspired and made some stuff about 4 years ago, but my drawings have improved drastically since then, so I’ll be a tad bit embarrassed to post them. I literally painted stuff in PS 5.5 I really want to do some more fanart for MT, but didn’t think I anybody would be interested in looking at it....
So I am thinking that I must go make something in that regard, maybe redo one of my old pics. I’ll let you know when I produce something, if you are interested...

Quote by ShkiraYou have an Atlantis av, and that's kick ass. Under-rated movie.

*chuckles* It had been a long while since I'd seen a Disney movie, but I understood that Milo Thatch there was both a protagonist and a linguist, which was too awesome for me not to check out. :) Academically, of course, the movie had some weak points, but I had fun with it; I'm glad I gave it a rent.

Well it just seems that some adventure type movies haven't done so well. Atlantis, Titan AE, Treasure Planet.... Like a running trend. Must it always be fuzzy animals or fantasy? I feel like The Incredibles only made it because of recent 'fads'.... ^_^;;

:D Hi there Gilt. Thanks for writing in my GB.

While FF8 comes in second ( in terms of storyline - at least in my own opionion ^^ ) to FF7, I really love FF8's battle system and most of its characters, especially Quistis. My very first PS RPG game was FF8. XD

Anyway, have a nice day. Hope to see you soon.

Hi there, just want to thank you for adding the scan "Magical Night 1" to your favs, really glad that you like it ^_^

Quote by Gilt I thought it was one of the better visual touches in the series as a whole, personally, and one of the more original snatches of imagery (I can't prove it, but I'd swear that Konami took a lot of the series' core look straight out of Jacob's Ladder).

The reason why you think that alot of the ideas come from Jacob's Ladder is cause it's true, I read it in an interview someone was doing with Konami Tokyo. They said alot of their inspiration for SH came from Jacob's Ladder, so I've been looking for the movie ever since....no luck though T_T ..... I really want to see it now lol. Anyways, If I find that interview again I'll post it here for you :)

Hi!!!!
Nice to hear it :). On your deteskop? I don't suppose that it's good so much :). So thanks for adding me too :). Nice to have you on my list :). So take care and see ya around my new friend :). Big hugs

Quote by GiltIt's very much my experience as well that knowledge of one language can be of great help in understanding another; my brief explorations of Gothic, for example, really cleared away the fog obscuring several points of Old English grammar, and in more general terms understanding something of what makes languages tick has likewise been of great utility in examining other, far more foreign tongues (e.g. Sumerian).

I haven't focused very strongly on the examination of conlangs myself, but Tolkien's reputation certainly precedes him and his work; Elvish - to use a blanket term, as I understand things - is accounted the most beautiful constructed language out there, which seems to be borne out by what I heard in the movie trilogy (assuming that they were reasonably accurate, which I'm not well-versed enough to verify myself).

His linguistic integrity is also impressive, if he created or otherwise provided for a Proto-Elvish language (to use the parlance of the field); I knew his work was extensive, but not exactly how much so. That level of dedication is rare, in my experience.

If you ever want to take a look at Tolkien's elvish languages, perhaps as a change of scenery, you would probably be interested in David Salo's Gateway to Sindarin, which discusses the general internal history of the elvish languages in the context of the various books before focusing specifically on Sindarin, the dialect that emerges as the dominant tongue by the time described in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. David Salo, a graduate student in linguistics, was the person responsible for all of the elvish grammar used in the Lord of the Rings films and is considered one of the experts on the subject.

Quote by GiltLatin is a fine language to study, though - as is Greek, although my personal preference, be it due to the order in which I studied them or no, lies with the native tongue of Vergil and Caesar. I've read estimates that peg the number of Latinate words in modern English at upwards of fifty percent (just look at the vocabulary of this sentence!), and I've found a familiarity with English word origins and working knowledge of Latin to be quite complimentary.

Ah, Virgil. . . arma virumque cano Troiae qui primus ab oris! It's not surprising that there is so much Latin influence in the modern English language, given that there have been two periods of significant Latin or Romance influence in the history of English-speaking peoples. There is, of course, the original conquest of Britannia by the Romans, and then the (much later) Norman conquest, after which French became the official language (at least of government and politics) and English all but died out as a written language until Chaucer. Knowledge of Latin, while satisfying in and of itself, has such a great practical application that is lost to so many today because of its clear and present influence on the modern English language.

Quote by GiltI feel I should apologize for the almost archaeological slant I've given to our exchange, though; I wish that I could contribute more in the area of the present day Orient, but I'm simply not sufficiently well-informed to contribute anything of value there.

No apology is required; to understand the present, one needs to truly understand the past.

Quote by GiltI should at least try to keep up on current events, though - is there any particular place that you'd recommend? For news I most commonly hit up CNN or Fox News or both, but you never know what others might have found that's better.

Might I assume that, like myself, you tend to sit down on the right-hand side of the aisle? To tell you the truth, I do not regularly watch the television and get most of my news from print media. I regularly read the New York Times, though keeping well in mind its particular slant, as well as the Economist, which I find to be a very well-written journal.

Quote by GiltAlso, consider my own congratulations rendered for your recent promotion; my tenure here is thus far brief, but I'm fairly confident that it's well-deserved. :)

Thank you so much! I'm still getting used to my new responsibilities, but whatever the title, I'm still one of the members, here first and foremost to enjoy what the galleries have to offer and to exchange thoughts and opinions with others in the forums or, in this case, in guestbooks.

Now it's time for me to get back to that stack of neglected readings sitting on my desk. . . this week is the last week of classes, so I'm hoping to get all caught up and end the year on a positive note. So, I'll wrap it up here for the night, and look forward to hearing from you again!
